After a political manifest (The Countercrisis, Cartea Românească, 2011) and an existential sketch (Dadasein, Tracus Arte, 2011), The Inconstruction could be defined as a workroom, as a conceptual building site, marking the author’s constant appearances in the issues of Arhitext magazine. It would yet be wrong to see in this book a simple « collection » of texts or appearances. What Bogdan Ghiu emphasizes, through the multiple incursions and archaeologies, through the numerous frame ups and dismantlings, is first of all the fact that the deconstruction and the inconstruction cannot be defined in regard to the construct, but in relation to the dilemmas immanent in any construct. The inconstruction is not then marked by a style or by a « subject », but rather by an attitude, where the criticism of the fixed signs of architecture, of the society, of architecture as society, is what comes to institute the condition for the disabilitation of the constructs, for the critical re-evaluation of the fundamentals of architecture. On the other hand, a book the subject of which is the inconstruction hinders from the very beginning the task of writing a preface or a postface to it, all the more so as the workroom is still open, and « the subject » does not exist as such. The scrupulous reading will perhaps offer a surprise precisely in that the very term of inconstruction appears only in one text, and does not seem to be more pregnant than other terms vehiculated by the author in no wise. And then why this title? Why would the inconstruction be the main mark of an ethical architecture? Why should we be under the necessity of inconstructing? (Preface, Sabin Borş)
